MONDAY EVENING GROUP:
Next Term Starts MONDAY the 15th of October. (Term 4, 2018)
The Art Journaling for Health and Wellbeing groups focus on Dr. Brené Brown's books and research, about belonging and deepening our personal understanding of shame resilience & vulnerability.
The focus in term 4. 2018, will be around Creative Self-care.
Participants will work in a peer supportive environment, using a process including art journaling to unpack and rewrite personal narratives in a variety of healing ways. It is a ten week commitment to yourself and your creativity. This group is suitable for anyone who wants to learn some different art therapy techniques for self-care, including drawing, collage, creative writing, poetry, water colours and photography. No previous art making experience is necessary - just a willingness to have a go.
This is an opportunity to discuss, explore and get creative around current concerns and set some clear goals for the year ahead. The group runs from 6pm - 8:30pm Monday evenings for ten weeks each school term. Participants must be prepared to attend each week. There is an intake process. New participants are always welcome to join, but numbers are limited to the amount of participants that we can fit comfortably in the studio.
Please email info@inkbrush.com.au to register your interest for the group or book your intake session.
One Day Workshop Sat the 17th of November: The Daring Way™ as a Creative Practice
Everyone is welcome to attend this one day art therapy workshop offered on Sat the 17th of November from 10 am - 5 pm. We will be working our way through some of the principles /curriculum based on Brené Brown's book Daring Greatly : How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead. Every time we are introduced to someone new, try to be creative, or start a difficult conversation, we take a risk. We feel uncertain and exposed. We feel vulnerable. Most of us try to fight those feelings - we strive to appear perfect. In this book, Dr. Brene Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability, and dispels the widely accepted myth that it's a weakness. She argues that, in truth, vulnerability is strength and when we shut ourselves off from vulnerability - from revealing our true selves - we distance ourselves from the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Daring Greatly is the culmination of 12 years of social research, across every area of our lives including home, relationships, work, and parenting. It is an invitation to be courageous; to show up and let ourselves be seen, even when there are no guarantees. The workshop will be held at the Art Therapy Studio. Bookings are Essential and participants will need to have read this book prior to attending the workshop. Fees are $385 per person including lunch. A concession discount of -10% is available for people with a health care card or student card.
